Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is it necessary to join during my first year of study, or can I join later?
No, it is not necessary to join during your first year of study although it is highly recommended. It is still possible to join during your second year of study.

  2. Do I need to have any musical background before I join?
No, you do not need to know how to play an instrument or read musical scores before you join. We have more than four experienced instructors to teach you. However, having a musical background will definitely aid you in your progress and developing individual musical interest.

  3. When are the training/practice days?
Sectional practices are on every Wednesday from 3.00 pm to 7:00 pm and every Friday from 2:30pm to 5:30pm.

However, in the case for preparations for major competitions or performances, you are expected to be held up longer than the intended timing.

  4. Do we get to choose our own instruments?
Yes, you will be allowed to choose your own instruments under most circumstances. However, if we have overwhelming enrolment for a particular instrument, we will recommend you to take up other instruments instead.

  5. Which instrument is easier/more difficult to learn?
No two instruments are the same. Every instrument has its own style and technique of playing and requires a different set of skills -- even mastering the recorder is not easy.

  6. Can I join more than one CCA?
Yes, you can. However, you are advised not to join too many CCAs as you have to have to juggle your studies as well. Sometimes, practice times may clash, so please keep a look out.
