Introduction
Tampines Junior College Chinese Orchestra was formed
in 1990 with the aim of promoting the awareness of Chinese Orchestral music in
the college.
Our Chinese Orchestra comprises of
students who are interested in learning to play Chinese musical instruments and
also, of traditional Chinese music. Throughout the years, it has been this
common interest in music that has helped the orchestra progress steadily. With
patience and perseverance, members of the orchestra were able to excel in both
their academic and stage performances.
The orchestra participates actively in
performances and takes part in no less than three events each year.
The development of the Chinese Orchestra
has been made possible due to the unwavering efforts and patience of all our
conductors, past and present, namely Mr. Cheng Chung Hsian
and in particular, to our present conductor Mr. Liu Bin.
The support of all our Principals and
teacher-advisors over the years has been fundamental in rendering the possible
success of the Chinese Orchestra .
