The wisdom of mankind is greatly manifested in the games of Chinese Chess, Othello, bridge and Weiqi . Down through the ages, numerous people have been fascinated by their charm and these games exist in TPJC chess club!
The establishment of Chess Club in the College is to encourage the appreciation of chess, provide greater opportunities for chess enthusiasts gather and pit their skills against one another. The Club promotes an interactive and stimulating environment where everyone can come to exercise their intellect and enhance their critical and strategic thinking skills, applicable in both chess and studies. Committed players are given numerous opportunities to represent the College at National Competitions. Our college players have taken an active participation in many events that is the International Chess Tournaments and the National Xiangqi Competitions for both teams( Raffles Junior College) and individuals(Char Yong Cup), the Inter-JC-Poly Chess Open, as well as the Catholic Junior College Bridge competition. In addition, students can participate in the annual College Chess Competitions organised by the Club. The Club too, offers many possibilities for newcomers. They are very much welcomed to learn the games or to pick up new skills and enter the challenging World of Chess. We meet every Wednesday and Friday.
